Rosen Performance Lab renovations!

curtains in the box, still have the tags on

All this week, we’ve been having an exciting project going on in the Rosen Performance Lab: the installation of our long-desired curtains!  We’ve been wanting to turn the studio into a more performance-friendly space and the curtains go a long way towards making that happen.  Trackwork had to be laid along all four sides of the space and then the curtains could be hung from the tracks.  Our special dance floor, called marley, had to be protected with a thick wood covering so the workers could do what they needed.  The installation also involved cutting and soldering pieces of the trackwork out on the loading dock.

Special thanks to State Senator Jamie Raskin and State Delegate Heather Mizeur for helping get the Maryland state bond bill approved in the legislature; the bond bill was a crucial part of these renovations being possible.  We’re so lucky to be in Maryland, where there’s such strong public support for the arts.  Thanks also to Facilities Coordinator Brian Buck for shepherding the process along, former Managing Director Jane Hirshberg, key supporter Elliot Rosen, and our friends at Catania Construction for the great work.

We look forward to seeing you in our beautiful space in the near future!  Join us on any upcoming Thursday night.  Next Thursday is our Retro Rendezvous!  Check out some pictures from the installation this week:
