The lovely Keira Hart-Mendoza teaches in our FRIDAY CLASS series on June 1, 8 and 15 from 9:30-11:15. Keira and dancer Katie Harris Banks organized last fall’s series Dan$e & Drink$ at Jackie’s Sidebar in Silver Spring, and it remains one of my favorite area dance events. Keira’s work looked great in that space–the red of the floors and walls at Sidebar highlighted nuanced torsos and wild shifts in dynamic. I’m so pleased to include Keira in our FRIDAY CLASS series. Her class description and bio follow. See you Friday!
Class description: Keira’s classes will begin with a floor warm up comprised of strengthening and conditioning elements through pilates and yoga exercises. The class will then progress into more physically demanding standing movement combinations, across the floor and center phrase work. Keira’s movement-style can be classified as linear and liquid with a focus on connectivity found in the body. Her movement combinations are comprised of detail oriented movement, traveling phrases that allow dancers to locomote through the space, and intricate floor work.
