renter spotlight: Institute of Musical Traditions

Here at the Dance Exchange, we are a professional dance company and we offer our own classes, workshops, and events, in addition to running our rehearsals in our home studios, but we also rent our studios to a wonderful variety of community groups and organizations.  We’ll be profiling one group on our blog each month, and we’re kicking things off by highlighting our friends at the Institute of Musical Traditions.

The Institute of Musical Traditions is a non-profit organization founded by the Takoma Park institution House of Musical Traditions.  They create a great ambience in Studio 2 and bring in top-notch musicians from all over the country.  With dim lighting, gorgeous music, and the dark night visible from the window, you’ll feel super warm and cozy attending one of the IMT Next to the House Concerts at the Dance Exchange.  IMT organizer Kent Murray even provides socks so no one has to get cold feet in our shoeless studios!  And they bring snacks.  We are happy to share our space with the Institute of Musical Traditions!
