Stephanie Miracle is back to teach in our Takoma Park Moves series this April. Stephanie, a wonderful dancer, choreographer, and teacher, is working on her MFA at the University of Maryland, and is very involved in the local arts community here. Her class, a delightful blend of precision and whimsy, is sure to challenge you and inspire new ways of moving and thinking about movement. You can learn more about her on her website, stephaniemiracledances.com. Stephanie will teach on April 4 from 6:30-7pm (free preview class), and on April 18 and 25 from 6:30-8pm. Jessie Laurita-Spanglet, Stephanie’s colleague at UMD, will teach on April 11. Class is $10.
Class description: This class aims build strong, multidimensional connections to our body, the space/place we inhabit, and the bodies we share that space with. We will awaken our sense of sight, touch, hearing, smell, taste, and proprioception through simple improvisational scores. With curiosity, awareness and levity we will investigate movement in floor work, traveling material and longer dance phrases that explore ease and efficiency in quick direction changes. This class is welcome to dancers of all levels.
