This week Cassie, Ouida, and Matthew have been busy with Dance Exchange Associate and Adjunct artists, and a number of artists and activists from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in preparing for the Opening Ceremony at the national Race Forward/Dallas Faces Race conference. Together, they have collaboratively shaped a 10-minute engagement for the ceremony that will invite all 2,000 conference participants to join in movement and story sharing to help kick off this exciting and pivotal gathering.
Cassie and Paloma will be co-facilitating one of the breakout sessions during the conference, and the full team will be meeting and making throughout the next year as part of a longer Dance Exchange initiative that builds on these experiences at the conference.
Earlier in the week, Matthew and Fabiola Torralba, an artist and activist based in San Antoniao, also co-facilitated at the first ever youth conference connected to the Race Forward/Dallas Faces Race conference, called ‘Strong Leaders, Strong City.”
