Michelle Pearson is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer actively working in many communities throughout her home state of North Carolina and abroad. She has made dances with people of all ages and histories including veterans, veterinarians, inmates, retired nuns, politicians, preschoolers and professional dancers. She danced with Liz Lerman Dance Exchange from 93-97 and moved into the position of Associate Artist in 1998. Before joining Dance Exchange, Michelle danced with the Doris Humphrey Repertory Company and the American Dance Ensemble in NYC. Currently, she is a member of Raleigh’s Even Exchange Dance Theater and enjoys many collaborative efforts with colleagues near and far. Michelle was recognized by the NC Arts Council with a choreographic fellowship in 2002-2004. She holds a B.F.A. in dance from East Carolina University where she was the recipient of the University Award, ECU’s most prestigious undergraduate distinction.
