How to Lose a Mountain Production Internship

Locations: Takoma Park, MD (Washington, DC area), C&O Canal Towpath, & Appalachian Trail

Length of internship: August 1, 2011 – November 30, 2011

Compensation: Weekly stipend, and some trail gear provided. Housing for non-local interns may be possible.

Who should apply:
Interns will work with the Production Manager to provide administrative and production support for “How to Lose a Mountain” an innovative new project by choreographer Cassie Meador. Interns will split their time between the company’s offices in Takoma Park, MD and walking on the Appalachian Trail with the Mountain team. Duties may include: scheduling travel for designers and dancers, driving people and supplies to and from trail rendezvous points, assisting with pre-walk prep: such as preparing and dehydrating food, securing gear, and communicating with partner organizations and residency sites, organizing the group on the trail: keeping in touch with the office, assisting with residency events and workshops, and helping to document stories.

Ideal candidates will be strongly self-motivated, and energized by working in a collaborative environment. Must love hiking and camping since large amounts of time will be spent outside (in all weather!). Interest and skills in video, audio recording, writing, photography, drawing, dance, theatre, or other artistic mediums a plus. Degree and/or working experience in fine or studio arts preferred. U.S. drivers license, clean driving record, and comfort driving in rural and city settings required.
