Administrative Intern

Location: Takoma Park, MD (Washington, DC area) Length of internship: January 3, 2012 – May 25 2012 Full-time Monday – Friday, with some weekends or evening special events  (part-time options available) Pay: $500/month Who should apply: Intern will work closely with both artists and staff to learn what it takes to run a world-renowned dance company. Work in marketing and development offers a chance to learn how to attract audiences, build a fan base, maintain and build a donor-base, and create attractive and effective social media campaigns. Assignments in general management provide opportunities to assist with scheduling, internal communication, and artist logistics. This position requires a proactive, organized, flexible individual who is able to multi-task and work independently. Communications, journalism, or development backgrounds preferable, but not required.  Junior and Senior year college students, post-undergraduate students, and professional level applicants are encouraged to apply. Tasks include (but are not limited to): Maintaining activity on various forms of social media Organizing performance photo archives Maintaining press archives Donor database upkeep Assisting with media and fundraising campaigns Organizing development files Fulfilling Critical Response Process book orders Assembling Press Kits Gathering agenda items and taking notes for company meetings and events Disseminating information both within the company and to adjunct artists Assisting in the development of internal communication systems Promoting spring season and activities Researching potential development opportunities Assisting with travel scheduling and logistics Booking company travel including plane tickets, rental cars, and hotels   To Apply: Send completed application form, cover letter, and resume (including references) to Meg Kelly at megk@danceexchange.org by November 1, 2011.
