Our Work

Dance Exchange is a leading nonprofit performing arts organization expanding who gets to dance, where dance happens, what dance is about, and why it matters. We do this in the following ways:

3 people stand together holding the strings of 3 red balloons as they look up. They stand in front of an empty open box truck next to a person looking up from a crouched position.

Dancemaking & Performance

We expand the ways performance and dancemaking catalyze connection, reflection, and action through:

    • Engaging Dance Exchange performance legacy & repertory

    • Creating new work

Creative Tools & Practices

We activate, innovate and evolve approaches for discovery through movement and dance making by:

    • Cultivating New Tools & Practices

    • Sharing Tools with Artists and Communities

    • Documenting and Disseminating Tools

Dancers in Ankara wrap skirts face away from camera toward a mirrored wall as they jump with 1 foot lifted and arms extended back. Drummers keep the beat in the foreground at left.

    • Intergenerational Programming
